Valerie, originally from Montreal, began her journey in the vivid landscape of her parents’ women’s ready-to-wear clothing manufacturing factory. Here, she immersed herself in the worlds of business, design, and fashion, sparking her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. By age 10, Valerie was already crafting her own clothing, showcasing her early passion and flair for fashion. This love seamlessly extended to eyewear, which she views as powerful avenues for personal expression. She takes immense joy in guiding clients to uncover the ideal pair of glasses that resonate with their unique style and personality.
Valerie relocated to Toronto, from Montreal in 1988. Where she expanded her expertise by progressing through various facets of the eyewear industry, from retail to wholesale, gathering over three decades of experience. Her adventurous nature led her to embark on a cross-country journey to Vancouver in 2015, a trip initially planned for one year that transformed into a cherished lifestyle. Embracing Vancouver’s vibrant essence, Valerie founded Niche Eyewear Boutique in 2018. Here, she channels her passion for eyewear into mastering the artistry of frame-making, with a focus on handcrafted designs.
Growing up, Valerie often faced a limited selection when it came to eyewear, a challenge that fueled her dedication to providing a broader range of options for her clients. She specializes in finding the perfect fit for everyone, from petite to oversized faces, ensuring that each individual can access beautifully curated collections that cater to diverse needs and styles. Valerie’s commitment to this personalization stems from her desire to help others overcome the fitting challenges she once encountered, turning it into a passionate mission to enhance everyone’s eyewear experience.

Whether gracefully carving down the ski slopes, exploring British Columbia’s breathtaking trails, Photography, or cycling through sun-kissed paths, she embraces an active lifestyle that nurtures both body and spirit. Her cherished dog, Biscuit, joins her not only in these adventures but also as a volunteer therapy dog with St. John Ambulance.
